Chidananda Dasgupta Memorial Award for Best Debut Feature Film and Supriya Dasgupta Memorial Award for Best Costume Design

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA / RULES / SUBMISSION

  • In continuation of the Birth Centenary celebrations of the well-known journalist, film critic and filmmaker Chidananda Dasgupta, one of the pioneers of the Film Society Movement in India, the Chidananda Dasgupta Memorial Trust announces the Chidananda Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Debut Feature Film carrying a prize of INR 1,00,000. The Trust also announces the Supriya Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Costume Design from among the debut films submitted, carrying a prize of INR 50,000.
  • Indian feature films, which are debut films of the concerned directors, made in celluloid or digital format and censored after 1 January 2020 are eligible to be submitted. The submitted films are expected to reflect the directors’ response to social issues in content and/or experimentation/innovation in form. The submitted films must have English subtitles. Documentaries will not be accepted.
  • Submissions will be accepted only as Vimeo link with password or unlisted YouTube link to be sent along with the entry form and other relevant details to cdgmt2021@gmail.com. There is no submission fee. Last date for receiving submissions is 15 August 2022.
  • The relevant submission form should be completely filled in legibly and sent in along with the film link submission and other details as mentioned in the form. Incomplete entries will not be considered.
  • An eminent National Jury will adjudicate the Awards.
  • The Chidananda Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Debut Feature Film will go to the Director of the Film and the Supriya Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Costume Design will go to the Costume Designer of the film.
  • The winners of the Chidananda Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Debut Feature Film and the Supriya Dasgupta Award 2022 for the Best Costume Design will be announced on 20 November 2022 at an appropriate venue. The winning film(s) must be made available in digital format for screening as part of the Centenary Celebrations.
